Membership Benefits and Criteria
The Executive of CoPSO agreed a new structure to the membership of the Council at the meeting held on 22nd June 2011. The structure required revision to accommodate the recent changes to the arrangements for subscribing to the Search Code which require that Subscribers are also members of CoPSO.
The new structure is composed of three categories, being Executive, Associate and Affiliate. In the revision to the structure the old category of Regional Executive has been discontinued as there appeared to be no substantive benefits over and above those for the old Affiliate category.
In the restructure the opportunity has been taken to review the benefits for each category of membership and those applying to the revised categories are shown below.
Executive: £8,000 per annum or £700 per month
- Attends CoPSO Executive meetings and directs CoPSO policy and agenda
- Definitive vote on all tabled motions
- May stand for election to the Board
- Can join any working group
- Receives all committee agendas, minutes, meeting reports and supporting papers
- Receives all external consultation documentation and helps formulate draft responses
- Use of Executive members’ logo
- Receive Executive papers and regular updates
- Name and web link on CoPSO website directory
- Direct access to secretariat for advice, queries and assistance
- Receives a discount of 50% on Search Code subscription fees
- May pay membership fee and Search Code subscription fee by monthly instalment
Companies must have been trading for more than 2 years and require a PI of £5m.
Associate: £1,500 per annum or £135 per month
Membership is open to companies whose core business is sourcing and compiling property search reports but who do not meet Executive membership criteria or who prefer to be involved in the implementation rather than formulation of policy.
- Provides technical input into policy agenda
- May be invited or can apply to sit on any working group
- Receives all working group papers and meeting reports
- Receives all executive meeting minutes
- Receives all association wide communications and newsletters
- Receives all policy position statements and guidance notes
- May use the Associate Member logo
- Will have name on Association website directory
- Will have direct access to the secretariat for advice with policy queries and assistance
- Receives a 50% discount on Search Code subscription fees
- May pay membership fee and Search Code subscription fee by monthly instalment
There is no minimum trading criteria but members are required to meet all Search Code PI requirements.
Affiliate: Search Code subscription fee only
- May use the Search Code logo but not the CoPSO logo
- Will have name on Association website directory
- Will have direct access to the secretariat for advice with policy queries and assistance
- Receives a 20% discount on Search Code subscription fees
All members must:
- Pay the appropriate subscription within two months of the date of request for payment. Any late payment will result in the member being suspended
- Agree to be bound by both the terms of the Constitution and subscribe to the Search Code
- Provide evidence of professional indemnity insurance on request
- Provide three months notice of resignation subject to any other conditions attached to paying by instalments. No fees paid will be refunded.
Note: Admission for membership is at the discretion of the Executive Committee.
